Blurb:
It takes only half a second…
…Like those commercials where a crash test dummy rockets forward at high speed and slams into a wall.
…In that instant, every thought in Emma Lynn Walsh’s head collides with mine—every thought, memory, hope, disappointment and dream.
…I open my eyes to see Dr. Walsh peering at me, a puzzled expression on her face.
“Let—go—of—me,” I order though clenched teeth.

Mira wants to die. She’s attempted suicide twice already, and failed. Every time she comes in contact with another person, skin to skin, that person’s psyche uploads into hers. While her psychologist considers this a gift, for Mira, it’s a curse from which she cannot escape.
To make matters worse, Mira’s father is being investigated in the deaths of several volunteer test subjects of a miracle drug. Shortly after Mira’s mother starts asking questions, she ends up in a coma. Although her father claims it was an accident, thanks to her “condition” Mira knows the truth…but proving it just might get her killed!

Review:

Mira Ortiz wakes up to find herself in the hospital after yet another failed suicide attempt.  She can no longer handle the emotions, memories and stress that come with being able to read peoples minds when she touches them.  After another session of mandatory therapy, Mira literally bumps into David and for her its love at first sight.
When Mira bumps into David again at a function for her father, she learns some of his secrets. David is wants Mira's father's job as Governor and his company is under investigation for something that happened sixteen years ago. Unsure of how to process this information, Mira goes how still infatuated with David but a bit confused.
Mira's life takes a violent turn when she wakes up in the morning and is unable to wake her mom up. Now she doesn't know who to trust or what's the truth anymore.  Mira begins to learn some nasty secrets about her father and must turn to David for help. But can she trust him or will he betray her?

What I thought:

I really liked this story, I found it exciting, entertaining and gripping.  Just when I thought I had Mira's problems solved, there would be something else that would throw me off the trail.  The relationship between Mira and David was very interesting. It was a delicate balance of love and hate, trust and disloyalty. Never a dull moment in Contact!!!
