Review: Jessica Jaster's "Delta Project" (Rescue Book Two)

Title: Delta Project: Rescue Book Two
Author: Jessica Jaster

Blurb:

D005 has been a part of a secret government program known as the Delta Project her entire life. She has been genetically modified to be stronger, faster, smarter and to heal faster. Trained in hand-to-hand combat, weaponry and battle tactics, she has been worked to physical and mental exhaustion every day of her life. Raised without love or care of any kind, she has no idea what it means to be happy – to be free. And now she has run away.

After leaving the Hartman Ranch in order to keep her new friends out of danger, Weston embarks on a mission to save her brother and the other Deltas with the help of someone from her past. While at it, she will learn more about the Delta Project itself and what it is about the Deltas that makes them special.

During her journey, she will be put in difficult situations. Will she be able to remain the caring, fun-loving Weston she became? Or will she revert to the cold, distant D005 of her past?

And will she ever see Cormac or any of the others ever again?

My Review:

I was SO VERY excited to get my hands on this book y'all!! I'm not gonna lie, I finished book one I started book two right away!! I just couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next!!

This time Weston is on a personal mission, save her brother another Deltas. The only problem? She can't do it alone, she needs help.  Help from someone who knows the compound inside and out, but can she convince him to help her? Can she trust him?

Will Weston be able to get into the compound, save her brother and most importantly get out? She comes up with an elaborate ( and extremely risky) plan to break back into the hell she escaped from in book one.  Beware, a HUGE twist hits you right in the face and I'll blow you away!

What I thought:

Is it possible that I loved this book even MORE than the first one?? It was amazing to not only meet all the new and fascinating characters, but it really gave me a better feel of just who the Delta's were as a people.  All these new character fit into the story nicely and weren't fluff. I was so nervous when Weston was trying to break back into the compound!! That place is so awful and dangerous! IF she was able to get in, could she get herself and her brother out?

Weston grew up so much in this book! She was able to face all the difficult challenges Jessica threw her way ( and there were A LOT) and not only overcome them, but use them to give her power and self confidence to stay on task. Rescue is a fast past heart stopping ride you just can't miss!! My ONLY complaint??? Cliff hanger!! OMG does Jessica love to torment her readers!! WOW! I thought I could click my iPad and go to the next page.....NOPE!!! Jessica asked if I was mad at her. No Love, by now I know you and I expected it! ;)  *snort* Good thing I love you!!

But then she wakes up on the rocky shore of the Missouri River with no memory of how she got there, or why there are bullet wounds, scratches and bruises riddling her body. Her entire past has become a blank sheet except for a recurring nightmare of her running through the woods with dogs chasing her and voices shouting at her that she can never hide. As she struggles to understand the kind of life she has never had, emotions she has never felt before, and the mystery of her past, she is helped by Brianna Hartman and Reid Phelps – the two teenagers who discover her. When she goes to live with Brianna at the Hartman Ranch, she must also learn to deal with Bri’s brother, the gruff Cormac Hartman, who is running from his own past. He seems to hate her from the word go, but when she discovers his crude attitude is just his way of dealing with the hurt he is feeling, she decides to make it her mission to draw him back into life. After willingly leaving the Hartman Ranch and Cormac, in order to protect those she loves, Weston is back at the Delta Project compound. Back exactly where she does not want to be. On the plus side, it's not a bad place to be if she wants to free the rest of the Deltas.

However, it also means she's under Commander's thumb again. And he has questions he is willing to go to great lengths to get answered.

The thing that Commander doesn't understand is just how much Weston wants her freedom back. And with her back at the compound, he's going to have a fight on his hands.

Aislin had learned that she could be the hero of her own story and now she was about to find out that just because someone looks like a hero, that doesn't mean that they are.

It's been a few months since 17-year-old geek, Aislin Blake was kidnapped and discovered that her parents are spies. Even with all that weirdness, life should be perfect for her, right? Her parents are home more often now and Lucas Chase, the boy she's been obsessed with for years, is now her boyfriend.

Except that her parents keep bringing work home with them, which not only brings her Mystery Man back into her life, but also gives her the mystery of an incorrectly translated code that she just happened to see on one of the papers she wasn't supposed to be looking at. Not only that, but is it just her, or is everything not exactly perfect with her boyfriend?

About My Girl Jessica:

Jessica Jaster lives in Iowa with her husband and her (currently) one year old and two year old. She has always had an over-active imagination and has been making stories up in her head for herself for as long as she can remember and finally decided to start writing them down (when she is not busy chasing the two little ones around anyway) and sharing them with anyone interested. Most ideas she has so far for her novels are for young adults, some fantasy, some science fiction and some normal contemporary story-lines.
