Aislin had learned that she could be the hero of her own story and now she was about to find out that just because someone looks like a hero, that doesn't mean that they are.

It's been a few months since 17-year-old geek, Aislin Blake was kidnapped and discovered that her parents are spies. Even with all that weirdness, life should be perfect for her, right? Her parents are home more often now and Lucas Chase, the boy she's been obsessed with for years, is now her boyfriend.

Except that her parents keep bringing work home with them, which not only brings her Mystery Man back into her life, but also gives her the mystery of an incorrectly translated code that she just happened to see on one of the papers she wasn't supposed to be looking at. Not only that, but is it just her, or is everything not exactly perfect with her boyfriend?

My Review:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this story!! What's not to love about Aislin?? She's hilarious, confident and totally brilliant!! If she's a geek than so am I because I would totally hang out with Ash!! Does that make me a geek too? Ya know what? I don't care!!

Ok so Jessica picks up a few months after where she left us in book one.  Aislin  is now dating her dream guy, Lucas Chase. Yet she maintains who she is no matter what the popular kids think of her (I think this is amazing) Aislin soon discovers Lucas Chase isn't the perfect guy she thought he was and is  crushed......

In the meantime, Aislin's parents have begun working from home more in order to be around her. This isn't all bad though, because it means Mystery Man comes around more. If you remember, he's the one who took Aislin to prom.

When Aislin reconfigures an incorrect code among her parent's paperwork, she discovers something is very wrong. Aislin attempts to show her parents the mistake, but they refuse to listen. Out of options, she turns to Mystery Man and begs him to help her.

Soon Aislin is turning to him for emotional support
when she needs someone the most. Not only is Mystery Man there, he remembers her favorite ice cream!!! *sigh* Um hello Aislin?? He's perfect!!!

This is how I feel about Mystery Man *sigh*

What I thought:

This book is absolutely fantastic!!! There's SO much to love!! There's drama, chemistry, adventure and romance!!!  Like I said, Aislin never conforms to how others feel she should be. She's confident in who she is and just doesn't care.  I think this is an amazing example because in our society we bend too easily to what others want and often loose who we are. I also really like the blooming chemistry between two of the characters *squeal* It's happening at a nice and study pace, I don't even think the characters realize it yet!! Jessica, I NEED book 3!!! Fork it over baby!!!!!

Me at the end!!

OTHER WORKS:

D005 has been a part of a secret government program known as the Delta Project her entire life.

She has been genetically modified to be stronger, faster, smarter and to heal faster. Trained in hand-to-hand combat, weaponry and battle tactics, she has been worked to physical and mental exhaustion every day of her life. Raised without love or care of any kind, she has no idea what it means to be happy – to be free.

And now she has run away.

But then she wakes up on the rocky shore of the Missouri River with no memory of how she got there, or why there are bullet wounds, scratches and bruises riddling her body. Her entire past has become a blank sheet except for a recurring nightmare of her running through the woods with dogs chasing her and voices shouting at her that she can never hide.

As she struggles to understand the kind of life she has never had, emotions she has never felt before, and the mystery of her past, she is helped by Brianna Hartman and Reid Phelps – the two teenagers who discover her. When she goes to live with Brianna at the Hartman Ranch, she must also learn to deal with Bri’s brother, the gruff Cormac Hartman, who is running from his own past. He seems to hate her from the word go, but when she discovers his crude attitude is just his way of dealing with the hurt he is feeling, she decides to make it her mission to draw him back into life.

Then a mysterious stranger comes to the ranch and her new world comes crashing down around her as her past comes back to haunt her.

After leaving the Hartman Ranch in order to keep her new friends out of danger, Weston embarks on a mission to save her brother and the other Deltas with the help of someone from her past. While at it, she will learn more about the Delta Project itself and what it is about the Deltas that makes them special.

During her journey, she will be put in difficult situations. Will she be able to remain the caring, fun-loving Weston she became? Or will she revert to the cold, distant D005 of her past?

And will she ever see Cormac or any of the others ever again?

All she wanted to do that night was go to Prom. That's kind of hard to do when you've been kidnapped.

Seventeen year old Aislin is a proud geek. The last thing she expects is to be nabbed off the street on the way home from the library one day. But she is and that's not the last surprise in store for Aislin.

She's about to find out a surprising secret about her parents. And she's about to find something out about herself - she might just be more like the characters in her books, movies and games, than she thinks.

About Jessica:

Jessica Jaster lives in Iowa with her husband and her (currently) one year old and two year old, as well as their cat, Pandora.

Jessica graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Anthropology.  Yes, she realizes that there is a big difference between Anthropology and writing young adult novels.  She actually tried for an English major (well actually, it was Criminal Justice, then English, then Anthropology), but the classes she had to take just did not fly with her.  Although, since Anthropology is pretty much just the study of humans and human culture, it could tie in with her novels in some way.

She has always had an over-active imagination and has been making stories up in her head for herself for as long as she can remember and finally decided to start writing them down (when she is not busy chasing the two little ones around anyway) and sharing them with anyone interested. Most ideas she has so far for her novels are for young adults - some fantasy, some science fiction and some normal contemporary story-lines.
