My Review:
Can I just saw how amazing Lila is about not only creating characters we love but also she keeps us in the loop of their ever changing lives. Every time I read (or re-read) one of Lila's book is more than just reading, it feels like visiting an old friend. Heart Breaker was no exception, it was the continuation of a love story that bloomed in the prison of Breaker's depression.
Breaker and Ash are both going to college and working their butts off in order to get to finish up and make it to graduation. With classes, friend's issues, tutoring and studying, Ash and Breaker rarely have time to see each other. This begins to wear on their relationship and jealousy and doubt begins to seep in....
Breaker is finally able to escape the safety of his home and attend college, this is every exciting and terrifying at the same time. Every day is a new challenge for Breaker in that he must face situations that once paralyzed him with fear. He's growing strong and becoming more independent relying on his inner strength instead of needing Ash.
Ash, while proud and elated for Breaker, starts to wonder if he needs her anymore....... and that terrifies the crap out of her. Ash was the key to help Breaker see the world beyond the four walls of his house. Apprehension slowly starts to choke Ash and cloud their lives. Can they work through these daemons and revive their relationship?
What I thought:
*sigh* I just text Lila and told her how I'm just in awe of her writing!! I really think it takes a true artist to not only grab the attention of the reader, but to make them fall in love with each character and make them want more!! I really connected with Breaker in AnguiSH, because the extent of his crippling phobias just broke my heart. To watch him flourish under Ash's encouragement, was astonishing.
As you can probably guess, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Breaker *cough, cough* I MEAN Heart Breaker!! I couldn't wait to see what this fantastic couple was up to. If you love Breaker and Ash as much as I do, you won't want to miss this spellbinding story!!
