My Review:
Ok first I need to tell Lila how very proud I am of her for venturing outside of her comfort zone and writing a shifter book. I know she was very nervous but Lila my girl, this book is not only a beautiful love story, its a work of art. As always, Lila has managed to bring us into these amazing realistic characters lives and hold us there until the very end. I laughed, cried ( note to self, never read a Lila Felix book in a crowed doctor's office) and felt elated right along with Hawke * sigh* and Echo? I bet you're thinking, who are these shifters and what's their story?
Hawke Turnclaw is the Alpha of his Grizzly clan. He's a compassionate, fearless and passionate leader. Hawke is determined to lead his pack out of troubles plaguing them due to his father's, the prevous Alpha greedy choices. As much as he adores his pack, there is a piece of his heart missing he needs a mate. Hawke must go one a rescue mission to save a mistreated bear. His world comes to a crashing halt when he finds his mate.
Echo is used to being mistreated by her clan, skipping meals and sleeping on the cold hard ground is part of her daily routin. They can't break Echo's sprit even when her Alpha places as shock collar around her neck to prevent her from trying to escape, again. Her life is about to change drastically when a sexy male shows up calling her mate.
Now Echo finds herself trying to adjust to a life she never dreamed possible. Showered with love, respect and friendship she begins to grow and trust her feelings for Hawke.
What I thought:
There was just so much I loved about this book I just don't know where to start.......hmmmm how about the phenomenal characters??? Hawke could be bitter about the mess his father left in his wake of selfishness but instead he looks for solutions and strives to be a better Alpha than his father. You'll want to add him to your collection of Lila book boys! He's sexy, protective and has the Alpha male thing going for him *sigh*

Let's not forget Echo, she was mistreated her whole life and told how worthless she was. Yet, she never gave up hope that one day her life would be better than the hell she was forced to live. When Hawke came for her, there was instant attraction and a connection between them. But I like the fact that Lila made their love bloom slowly built over time with trust and friendship as a guide. BUT there were plenty of passion between these two that will make you smolder right along with them!
"Burden" is one of those stories that proves how powerful and healing love can be. This story will stay in your heart and make you ache to visit it again.
