The United States has collapsed. Those citizens who are left are in one of two classes. One: Citizens who have undergone forced lobotomies, as mandated by the United Nations. Two: Those who fight against their tyranny.
Petra Kingsley falls under both classes. She falls in line with the drones, pretending her procedure worked. She’s existed among their ranks, hiding in plain sight, being worked to the bone and starved almost to death.
Lawson is a bounty hunter of sorts. His target isn’t the guilty, it’s those who are lost in the folds of a broken society.
When he spots Petra working in the masses, he stops at nothing to help her escape.
But he has no idea who exactly he’s helping—and who will now be hunting them both?

My Review:

In Lila Felix's thrilling and almost too realistic new book "Forced  Autonomy" (Phase 1) the
government has  discovered the most disturbing of nightmares & unleashed the unthinkable upon its people. Through forced lobotomies, the  public has succumbed to a shell of their former lives as mindless slaves working for free. In order to survive, Petra Kingsley has hidden among the "drones" working long hard hours with little or no food. Her plan has worked for four long years. Petra's hellish life changes when she meets Lawson *sigh*

Annnnnnnnnnd you're welcome

Lawson *sigh again* has been able to hide from the government living on the outskirts of cities in well run camps full of refugees hiding from the  tyranny of the government. Lawson has made it his mission to save people  like Petra and bring them back to his settlement where they can enjoy simple pleasures like soap, food and a bed (no for real y'all)

When Lawson discovers Petra, he realizes that she is so much more than he expected. Can these two find love in such a soul crushing world?

What I thought:

I Absolutely LOVED this story!!! It was so raw, gritty and realistic it honestly scared me a little!! Lila goes into such detail about the collapse of society, it's like she had coffee with    Nostradamus!! No worries y'all, this book isn't all zombified people, the evil government, people living in colonies hoping to avoid forced lobotomies. The friendships in Lawson's group is more like a family. Each pulling his/her own weight and wanting the best for the group as a whole.

Can I just say Lila is a master of making you fall in love with her male leads?? They are all intelligent, sexy, fearless, daring and fiercely loyal to those they love. I honestly thought I had my book boyfriends from Lila down to a few:  Falcon and Nixon (From her Love and Skate Series) and Breaker (from AnguiSH) but I have to  add Lawson to my collection and I bet you will too!

Ok, ok, I got distracted over Lawson's yumminess. I wanted to discuss Petra and Lawson's  relationship. It is sweet, romantic and often heart melting. Yet underneath all that is a smoldering current of passion just waiting to burst open!! Perhaps in the next installment Lila?

"Forced  Autonomy" (Phase 1) is extremely raw and gritty but in all of that horror and darkness, love still blooms, reigniting the faith in humanity! It's pure perfection!!

I had the amazing opportunity to interview Lawson (Thanks Lila) I hope this helps y'all love him as much as I do and want to read Lila's exciting book! To help avoid confusion, Lawson's answers will be in blue and mine in pink. Enjoy!!!

Welcome and thank you so much for meeting with me today Lawson! I know you're very busy so I appreciate you coming today. Are you ready to get started?
Sure.

Let's go back a little bit. Before all hell broke loose. Tell me a favorite childhood memory.
My grandmother used to have these women over every Thursday night for reading club. But really, they made ‘special brownies’ and would get a little wild. I would sit on the stairs and just laugh all night. That’s probably not what you had in mind.
*LOL* That's SO much better than what I had in mind Lawson!! I think my best memory with my grandma was when she bought me a Barbie!

Describe a typical pre-apocalyptic day. Were you in school or did you have a job?
I boosted cars all day and helped run the chop shop all night. Not really a typical job, but it kept the lights on and the water running for my parents.
You're amazing!

Did you have a hobby or favorite activity? What did you and your friends like to do?
A hobby? Yeah, I used to play the guitar. Wish I still had one. My friends were not good people. Breaking the law was our top entertainment.
Oh guitars are great! Well I think those "hobbies" may have helped you survive!

Do you remember the moment you realized the government was truly insane and out to hurt the people?
I remember the day the President was shot. I think when I realized, years before that, when the Senators were getting paid $200,000 while the people who ran the farms that fed them were starving—something was really wrong.
I agree, it's disgusting really.

Your parents being older, were among the first to be "taken" walk me through that day and your thoughts as they unfolded.
They volunteered. They still had this unfounded faith in the system. I begged them not to go. They were picked up in the middle of the night while I was stealing cars.
*gasp* Oh Lawson, I'm so sorry! I know it's what they wanted, but that doesn't make it any easier for you.

What made you decide that you needed to help others escape the government?
I can’t reveal that yet. You’ll have to read about it. Lila would slap me in the back of the head. *chuckles*
She sure would!!!  Ok I'll let that one go, for now *wink*

Moving in the shadows and avoided such a powerful group of people can be dangerous. Did you ever come across a situation you were afraid you wouldn't get out of?

I’ve been apprehended several times. But those soldiers are like droids. They have knowledge, but no common sense, no instinct. I’ve been worried more times than I’d like to admit.

Now let's talk about Petra *giggle* what drew her to you? Besides the fact it was obvious she wasn't a drone. There was more to it, a pull coming from both of you!

Yeah, this is the one question Lila threatened me not to answer under any circumstances. She can still off me, you know? I’d better not. But Petra—there’s just something about that girl.
*Puts hands up* Ok, ok, ok, the last thing I want to do is get you in trouble with Lila *wink* So, that's a good enough answer for now!!

Bringing Petra back to the group causes an.......issue with one person you didn't see coming. How do you plan on handling this? Can you?
Odin is a real douche bag. *snort*  He was a little bit before but now he’s really showing his true colors. I might just have to take Petra away. *giggle* Good idea!!

On a happier note, if you had the ability to plan the perfect date for Petra, what would you do? Anywhere special you'd like to go?

Ugh, don’t do this to me. I try to stay away from thinking about the old world. *frown* But if I could, I’d like to pick her up from her house, take her to dinner and a movie. Hold her hand and shit. *LOL*

Well on that note *wink* I know you need to get back before it gets too dark & unsafe to travel. Before you leave, I'd like to give you this *hands him a heavy canvas bag* it's just some supplies I collected to help make your life easier!
Oh, thanks Kelly. I appreciate it. I’ll share.
Good glad you can use it all!

Ok ladies what do you think?? Do you see why I'm totally in love with him?  Well, I'm in love with all of Lila's book boys but still...

Love this pic

food, no really!! If  you have nothing this IS food.
*I* on the other hand, would just go hungry that meal!!

Anguish was the status quo, until she walked in.
Breaker James Collins is confined in a prison of his own making. Scarred doesn’t begin to define his hell since finding out his girlfriend had cheated, stolen, and lied two years ago. It led to a single event—one that would blacken his days and his nights from then on. Since then, he hasn’t left his house, crippled by fear of people and any social interaction.
Ashland talks too much and has the voice of a meth-laden prairie dog, or so she’s always been told. She’s been called annoying and irritating all of her life and gave up on having friends for a long time. College has given her a new lease on a social life and she’s embraced who she is. But now she’s waiting for the one guy who can take her breath away and put up with her antics.
A simple note pinned to a corkboard will lead Ash right to Breaker’s solitary world and she will learn that just because a guy doesn’t fit her ideal, doesn’t mean she won’t fall head over feet in love.

All she wanted was a friend---one that knew her and not her circumstances. She needed somewhere to call home. Hers was an open door for countless men looking for the services her mother offered them. She camouflaged herself against lockers and blackboards to avoid the stares and whispers at school.

And then she found Cal...and Fade.

Cal lives like Frankenstein, rising at night to work and just trying to make it until dawn. He avoids most relationships, afraid of the things he will be asked to do. He moonlights as Fade, a radio station DJ who spends hours counseling his peers on their troubles. It was all mundane until Jocelyn called the station.

Cal and Havok pursue a friendship.

Jocelyn and Fade pursue a relationship beyond the confines of the radio waves.

But when Havok disappears, Cal will find that Havok has been guarding a lifetime worth of secrets. And when Fade and Jocelyn’s all night phone conversations cease, he finds a link between them he never saw coming.
