Review: Rachel Higginson's "The Rush"

Title: The Rush
Author: Rachel Higginson

Blurb:

Every facet of Ivy Pierce’s life is meticulously planned out and plotted. Cynical and jaded by sixteen, Ivy’s only hope is to escape the legacy she was born into.

She has a plan, a carefully thought out, feasible plan. She just has to play by the rules until everything falls into place. Unfortunately as predictable as her life can be, she never sees Ryder Sutton coming. He tumbles into her life unimpressed and untouched by her and the life she lives. He’s an enigma to her. A gorgeous, frustrating, sincere mystery and a complete phenomenon in the ugly world she lives in.

What blooms between them is a fiercely intense attraction that cannot be ignored. Even though they would both be better off without each other—Even if both their lives depend on staying apart.

My Review:

Ivy Pierce is the definition of perfection, from her silky red hair to her posh designer shoes. But if you look closely you'll see chinks in the flawless armor facade she has carefully constructed. Ivy is trapped in a dangerous life ruled over by the handsome but truly evil Nix *shudder*. Ivy refuses to be like her mother and willingly accept her legacy, she plays her role until she can escape this life and never look back.

On an ordinary school day, she runs ( literally) into the gorgeous Ryder Sutton. Unlike all the other guys in Ivy's life, Ryder is completely unaffected by her beauty, something that has never happened before.

Both Ivy and Ryder feel deeply drawn to each other and are soon unable to deny the growing attraction. Ivy knows that bringing Ryder into her world could not only jeopardize their relationship, but more importantly their lives!

My Thoughts:

This book was amazing!!!  I really liked all the clues Rachel gives about Ivy but it doesn't come out and say anything until much later. So it's a bit of a shock because you just don't see it coming!  I'll admit I really didn't like Ivy at first, I can tell you this because I had to tell Rachel!! BUT as soon as I met Nix *shudder* I saw Ivy in a whole different light and I felt sorry for her for a brief moment.  Then I realized how strong and determined she was and I was more like GO GIRL!! My only complaint??? Cliffhanger!! Rachel, girl seriously you've got to stop leaving your readers hanging!! My iPad just can't take being thrown across the room much more!! Oh but I'm sure you've sent my new iPad and Hendrix though right?

 About my girl Rachel:

was born and raised in Nebraska, but spent my college years traveling the world. I fell in love with Eastern Europe, Paris, Indian Food and the beautiful beaches of Sri Lanka. But I came back home to marry my high school sweetheart and now I spend my days raising our growing family. In those few spare moments I have, I am either reading or writing Young Adult Fiction, because I am obsessed with it.
Five other things I'm obsessed with right now:
1. My Kuerig Coffee Machine. Genius.
2. 90's music. Oh man, the 90's speak right to my soul.
3. Chocolate smelling body wash. Who doesn't want to walk around smelling like a bakery?
4. Colored Chapstick. And if it's Dr. Pepper Flavored, that's kind of my nirvana.
And.
5. Spotify. It's like the mixed-tape of this generation and I have probably three hundred hours of music on there. Can't get enough
