Blog Tour & Review: Lindsay Paige & Mary Smith's "Breakaway" (Book One The Penalty Kill Trilogy)

Title: Breakaway (Book One in The Penalty Kill Trilogy)
By: Lindsay Paige & Mary Smith
Levi Carr is captain of the Roxboro University Lions hockey team. His rival is James Wayne University and their captain, Trevor McCarthy. After an incident in high school and his mother's death, Levi does whatever he can to make McCarthy's life a little harder. When leaving the rivaling campus one night, Levi meets one person who can unknowingly help him mess with McCarthy.
My one job in this is to mess with McCarthy's head and all it has done is mess with mine.
Presley McCarthy lives in the shadow of her twin brother, Trevor. After being separated when their parents divorced, all Presley heard about was Levi Carr being a bully to Trevor. Now in college, Presley is trying to be her own person, but when she meets Levi Carr, it all changes. But will the changes be good or bad?
He is nothing like my brother described. Maybe I've been wrong all along.

My Review:
I fell in love with "Breakaway" from the first page, it transported me back to my college days without being annoying it was the perfect mix of days gone by & responsibility. Levi Carr (sigh) is captain of his college hockey team. Now if you're from the south (like me) let me translate, hockey is HUGE like football for us. As you can probably guess, Levi (sigh again)  is cocky, determined to win & is quite the ladies man. He does however, take his role as captain very seriously examples: early morning practice & pushing his team mates to hard. The forever thorn in his side (like since high school y'all) is Trevor McCarthy (hisssss boo) this guy is a major jerk. When Levi isn't thinking about hockey he's scheming new ways to get under Trevor's skin (THIS will have y'all giggling, promise!) But after a chance meeting, Levi's life is fixing to take an unexpected detour for the better...

Presley McCarthy is intelligent, gorgeous & sassy (totally love her) She's also just happens to be Levi's biggest rival's sister *gaaaaaaasp*. Growing up, Trevor filled Presley's head with the evils that make up Levi. She's not about to fall for Levi's cheesy pick up lines that leaves most women drooling. The more time Presley spends with Levi the more she's able to break down the walls he's put up & uncover the true Levi. What's exposed is more than Presley's ever imagined. Can she get passed what her brother Trevor ingrained in her about Levi? Or will she trust her heart & fall in love with the perfect man??
My Thoughts:
Of course I LOVED this book!! I just adore Presley, very often she had me laughing historically. She would turn down Levi & it would leave him stunned because he was so used to woman just falling at his feet. This love affair is a slow burn that will leave you sweating. BUT when it does finally explode, you better turn up your AC because its amazing!! Oh & one of my favorite parts is their first date so keep an eye out for that!! "Breakaway" is a must read romantic love story!!
‘“Good game, Carr,” Trevor calls out as we turn the opposite way from the door of the locker room to leave. Coach is already waiting on the bus, and I stop in my tracks at his boast. The guys turn with me, and I see Presley standing beside her brother, an elbow resting on his shoulder and a smirk on her face.
“You won because we let you, McCarthy.” Total bullshit, but he doesn’t know that. “I just didn’t want to embarrass you in front of your sister,” I say with a nod in her direction, her smirk disappearing at my attention. Trevor stands a little taller, his smile gone. Bringing his sister into the conversation isn’t something he’s fond of, I’m guessing.
“I’m sure you let us win.” He even rolls his eyes. “Why don’t you all keep walking to your bus with your tail between your legs.”
I chuckle and shrugs my shoulders. His comments don’t bother me and I’m sure to exert confidence. My eyes leave his and find those brown ones I thought about last night. “Maybe I’ll catch you later, Presley?”
Her eyes widen slightly when I say her name, but other than that she doesn’t give away any emotions.
